The artist has handed over the complete sum of his £25k honor winnings to the MVT, which functions to preserve the Britain's independent music venues.

Fender was given the cheque on mid-October as his latest record his work was declared the top album of the past year.

He has decided to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role local spots played in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it weren't for all the shows I played around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these venues have permanently closed – approximately 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts including the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by including a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits local stages.

Sam Fender also joined in, collecting more than £100,000 on his live tour to support 38 grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds helped venues that were dealing with possible closure due to challenges caused by flooding, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and sound issues.

Other venues obtained financial assistance in improving facilities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.

"The idea that money from concerts in big venues helps the independent spots, where it begins for musicians like me, is just sensible," the star has said.

Fender is not the first artist to give his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

When they earned the trophy in 1996 for their release the album, lead singer Cocker announced that the band would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.

That year, artist the artist shared her award across a few organizations, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I donated a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite explained to the media.

Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their funds to the local youth club that supported their group, as well as other independent music bodies.

And 1994 winners they contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was diagnosed the condition.

"The victory was quite enough," remarked vocalist the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't need the extra, because we had the honor. So our winning touched another person's life."

Last week, the MVT revealed it had saved several small stages in south-east England, by placing them under public stewardship.

One venue in the city and the other in that location were bought under the community ownership initiative, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "shares" in the properties.
